What Is Structural Integration?

You've seen me mention structural Integration a few times...but I've never fully explained it! I'm taking a private course starting next Monday and I'm so excited for the knowledge and skills it is going to add to my practice. But first, here's a quick little explanation about SI!

Inside our bodies, surrounding our organs, muscles, nerves and more is a connective tissue called fascia. Obviously fascia has always been there but it hasn't always been extensively studied or appreciated.

Fascia is supposed to hold things together, yes, but it also supposed to be elastic and freely movable. Our fascia becomes tight, short and dense when we are injured, stressed, age, and do repetitive movements. This causes physical distortions in our posture which leads to aches, pains, stiffness, and more.

Structural Integration is a 10-session series designed to release fascial adhesions, restoring posture, relieving pain, and giving you a better sense of body awareness. It is based on the work of Dr. Ida P. Rolf.

Having received Structural Integration myself I can attest to the changes it creates in the body. A typical session starts with an assessment of the client. Your therapist will have you move, breath, and walk while looking for patterns in your movement. Sessions typically last anywhere from 1-2 hours. Clients are usually in swimsuits underwear, due to the participation required by them. While Structural Integration is designed to go in series, each session building on the last, adjustments may be made for your unique body and needs. This is not your standard Swedish or even deep tissue session. SI focuses on your fascia, not your muscles. With a variety of strokes, fascial adhesions will be released, lengthened, and balanced. Trauma and memories are often stored in your fascia, so sometimes these are released in a variety of ways; It could be laughing or even tears. Whatever the case, these emotional releases are powerful and allow opportunities for change! Your trained therapist will work within your levels of comfort to help you through the process.

Everyone can benefit from receiving SI. If you are interested in increasing athletic performance, relieving chronic pain, improving your posture, or increasing your body awareness let's talk! While I am learning this amazing modality I will be offering introductory pricing at only $750 for the entire series (price goes up to $1000 when I complete my training)! Only $750 to walk taller, breath easier, move with more confidence, and release emotional buildup in your body. You will not regret investing in your health and wellness this way, I guarantee it. Learn more.
