Shannon and Brian Williams- first time parents

Melissa was our girl. I knew from the moment we met with her that she was the perfect fit- professional, but very warm personality.

The day I went into labor, Melissa was there for support. My labor actually lasted THREE days before my daughter was born, and Melissa came to our house twice to check up on me and try out some techniques. After her second visit to the house and trying some rebozo and inversion techniques, I went into active labor early that next morning.

In the end, my birth did not go the way that I had hoped. The baby was posterior and my labor stopped progressing. I also developed a uterine infection and hadn't slept for three days straight. My midwife and Melissa tried numerous things to help make me more comfortable to get labor started again. An intervention was imminent, and I knew the only way I was going to get through this was with some rest. That meant I would need an epidural. I was disappointed, but Melissa was INCREDIBLY supportive and reminded me that I had used every natural avenue thus far. She really made me believe that it was the best decision for the situation I was in.

Throughout all of my labor she was extremely helpful to my husband. They were able to switch on and off so I always had someone there for me that was rested and on their game. She also was able to remind Brian of techniques we learned in our birth class and guide him. My husband was very grateful to have Melissa there, and their calm, cool and collected personalities really meshed well together.

just hire melissa! It is worth it!

I Immediately knew that we were going to hire Melissa. I felt an instant connection with her, and I liked how soft spoken she was. She was incredible with matching my energy.

When it came to D Day, it was clear that we made the right decision. She and my husband worked wonderfully together to make up my perfect labor team. Melissa was so supportive the entire time from getting water to suggesting different positions. She never made me doubt or worry, and only filled me with positive thoughts and energy. She really got me through, because of Melissa I was able to get through a unmedicated birth while on pitocin. There is no way I could have reached that goal without her. I would do it all over again with her on my team, even though it was the most intense thing I have ever been through. She is absolutely amazing, and dear mama you should put her on your team too!

I had no idea what a doula actually did, but everybody told me we had to have one. When I first met Melissa I was a little hesitant about what her services provided. Then, my wife went into labor! From the moment her labor started Melissa was there for us. She was calm, cool and collected and quite experienced at the birthing process. She was able to help my wife through her contractions and help me to be prepared for what was happening. She was with us at the hospital, our house, back at the hospital, back at our house, and finally back in the hospital. She was there all through the time when we were admitted into labor and delivery. She helped when she was having contractions and allowed me to have a break every now and then to get some rest.  She pretty much coached us along the way!  For a guy going through this for the first time it was extremely helpful! And if we are fortunate to have another child I will definitely be calling her for her services again.
